As well as seeing infants, children and pregnant women, Julie also maintains a general osteopathic practice, seeing patients with a wide range of presentations from all age groups.
The range of problems patients discuss is broad and includes such presentations as:
- Neck & Back Pain
- Inflammatory Muscle and Joint Pain
- Dental issues with Bite and Jaw problems
- Post Surgical recovery
- Menopausal changes
- Digestive Complaints
- Respiratory Problems
Julie often receives referrals from other Osteopaths and Health Practitioners, including GPs, Dentists, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists, Naturopaths, Nutritionists and Acupuncturists to help to manage more complex health issues. Working in collaboration with them to find the best health outcomes for each individual patient.
The history will explore every aspect of a patient’s health to be sure that the presenting symptoms are suitable for osteopathic care and to find the underlying cause of any problems.
This might relate back to a very old injury, or it may involve an autoimmune or metabolic problem such as diabetes or thyroid issues or perhaps an inflammatory arthritis.
Julie undertakes a thorough osteopathic examination of the body framework; completing orthopaedic, neurological, respiratory and cardiovascular examinations as required. She may request further tests such as imaging and blood tests and refer to other specialists if indicated.
Osteopathic care involves hands on light touch, Julie does not use strong manipulations but chooses subtle approaches enhancing movements of the body’s soft tissues to find positions of ease for joints and their ligaments.
Julie approaches manual care of musculoskeletal issues alongside other modalities such as dietary care, nutritional supplements and the correct medication prescribed by physicians, as well as, incorporating exercise and postural care.
Osteopathy plays a role in helping the body to manage movement of joints and soft tissues, breathing and circulation and enhancing nerve signals to improve the person’s ability to function better in their daily life.
Julie sees people of all ages with histories of injuries from dancing, sport, accidents, illnesses, medical conditions and emotional traumas. She works hard to unravel long-term issues and loves to help patients improve the quality of their life.
